MYPABOX Pre-PA Consultation Service
If you’re considering applying to PA school, I’m sure you’re familiar with how confusing and overwhelming the process can be. Luckily MYPABOX has developed a service to make this entire process easier for you!
We are now offering pre-PA consultation with an experienced PA-C. This service includes an entire 60 minute phone or video call to talk through anything you desire about the application process. However, CASPA application review and mock interviews are a separate service to give the appropriate time needed for those important aspects of the process.
Some of the top things you can discuss with us include what a PA truly is, identifying your strengths and weaknesses, and how to avoid common pitfalls in the process. Let’s briefly touch on why all 3 of these concepts are so important!
Pursuing an education to eventually become a PA means you should have a solid understanding of the profession. It is one thing to be able to know the superficial role of a PA, but being able to discuss the differences and similarities between other healthcare professions, the limitations of a PA, and education requirements will set you apart from the competition.
Seemingly little concepts like these will give you an edge when answering essay prompt questions and especially during your interview when you cannot research information in real time.
Identifying your strengths and weaknesses as an applicant is crucial. When knowing your strengths, you can find a variety of ways and opportunities to highlight these skills and attributes to make you a more appealing applicant to the PA programs.
Similarly, knowing your weaknesses and how to frame them, can actually cause them to sound like areas of potential growth and seem like a positive characteristic. One aspect of your applicant we can review is your patient care experience and your healthcare experience. When reviewing these, we can help comb through the hours you have already accumulated and give advice on whether these are high or low quality hours. This is important because most programs prefer applicants with higher quality experiences than low quality experiences.
Additionally, we can identify if you have enough hours or if you should start focusing on accumulating more. This is an important part of your application because the majority of programs have a minimum amount of hours applicants need to be considered.
But we don’t stop there! We can also talk you through how to frame your GPA. If you already have a high GPA, then you’re golden. However many applicants view their GPA as a barrier for getting accepted to PA programs.
We can give you advice on how to raise your GPA, and even point out programs that have a reputation for seeing applicants holistically and accepting applicants with lower GPAs. Talking with a PA-C with this pre-PA consultation will allow you to pinpoint these important aspects, and more, to strengthen your application.
With applying to PA school being such a complicated and lengthy process, it makes sense that applicants make a plethora of mistakes. A fundamental part of this pre-PA consultation is to help you avoid these errors. Learn from our mistakes, and stories of others mistakes, so you don’t suffer the consequences we did.
Unfortunately, making mistakes on applications often leads to your application not being reviewed and essentially wasting the application cost. We will be like your best friend that applied the cycle before and is able to give you the inside information of what works and what does not. For example, we can help you avoid programs that you don’t meet the requirements for and give advice on how to focus on the programs that you already meet the criteria for.
Doing this will allow you to apply for programs that you are a good fit for, increasing your chances of being offered an interview and eventually an acceptance! We are also fantastic at helping you rephrase experiences you already have to fit what admission committees are looking for. As an example, if you have a variety of volunteer experiences, but the program you’re applying for is looking for a leader, it is likely that we can reframe your volunteer work into leadership work! Small changes such as these can make large impacts.
